COMMON PROBLEMS

It's not just common weeds and moss that are a threat to the health of your lawn. Pest control doesn't just mean plant protection products but also common pests such as Leather Jackets and ants.  Chafer grubs, the juvenile Chafer beetle and leather jackets, the grubs of Daddy Longlegs (Crane Flies) will cause significant damage to the root systems and are a favourite food which can result in your lawn being destroyed by birds and mammals. They can be controlled using nematodes, a microscopic worm and bacteria that infect the grubs.  If you see Daddy Longlegs hovering over the lawn, they are laying eggs so treat the lawn - don't take any risks.  Ants don't cause particular damage but piles of earth are unsightly.    If you live in the countryside and you get a visit from a mole you need to capture as soon as you can.  They cause massive damage, tunneling under the turf and depositing piles of earth.  

Various fungal diseases cause damage to the lawn and again produce unsightly patches which need to be controlled, such as fairy rings and fungi such as brown patch and summer lawn fungus.  All of these can be treated but you need to make sure you have are certified to use certain products.
