This is the time of year I love the most, it is somewhat ephemeral, for every bud that opens its time is limited. The blossoms are spectacular this year, made all the better now that we are unlocked and able to go and enjoy them, especially with the possibility we can enjoy our gardens with our friends, rather than a benign open prison as they have been over the last 12 months.
I have made sure I captured enough of the blaze of glory this year and add them to the Word of Mouth Gardeners' blog so I have a record of just how amazing Spring is in the British Isles. We are lucky living in Hampshire, the poor chalk soil is good for the variety of wild flowers which in turn provides a great habitat for a variety of insects. Our amazing bournes and chalk streams add further habitat to a wide range of aquatic insects, the most famous, Ephemera Danica, The Mayfly, whose hatch really does herald the start of summer. I'm sure to add a few more images as I drive to and from work to add to the collection.
Here's to a great Spring and a long hot, uneventful summer..
