It may still be mid winter but before you know it, you'll be dusting off the outdoor furniture and the dream of outdoor living soon becomes a reality once again. So if you're like me your leave everything to the last minute, in fact after the last minute as, with our English summers more unpredictable than ever, you just don't know when that first glorious day of Spring will be sprung. The job of getting outdoor space can be a long and messy one and definitely one where the preference is to get the professionals in so you can be doing the rather more pleasant jobs, like choosing who to invite for the first BBQ.
Patios and other outdoor spaces suffer in the winter, it's impossible for them not attract algae, mildew and the dreaded black spot lichen, especially those areas that receive no sunlight in the long winter nights, never getting the chance to dry out given perfect breading grounds for the little blighters. Not only is it unsightly and all that effort and expense to make your outside space look like part of the house, it's a slip hazard as anyone who has tried running over it will attest.
For the green algae, a powerful jet-wash will remove all of this effectively and quickly, clearly the more powerful the jet wash the quicker, bearing in mind the type of stone, you need to be careful on sand stones as you will damage the stone. If you want to kill the algae then a 50% bleach solution would work but do not get this on any plants, as obviously this will kill them.
The results are always so satisfying and well worth keeping on top of throughout the summer and early Autumn. For a professional job, we recommend using Biorase, a fast acting and effective cleaner designed to remove black spot algae and green algae. Biorase will also treat most organic, coloured food staining such as tea, wine, coffee, cola, iced lollies etc and is suitable for organic staining from birds, berries, leaves, trees, bark, wood, seed, pods and flowers.
